One Ocean is a gorgeous venue for a wedding, and Ashley and Justin truly outdid themselves with the planning. From the smallest little detail, to centerpieces, to flowers, it was all so gorgeous. Ashley is of course stunning, but to see her all dressed up in her dress just made me smile. =) Justin was of course his normal self which is always entertaining. (see previous blog post for that)
These two took their vows under the terrace outside. It’s such a beautiful place to be able to marry at the beach with the sound of the ocean…but without having to actually walk in the sand. After we finished the ceremony, we walked around the streets of Atlantic Beach for some really fun photos.
The reception was NON-STOP fun…going from one thing to the next. There was never a dull moment. Ash really wanted a photobooth, and everyone LOVED getting their picture made and logged in a book for them. What a neat way to remember all of your guests.
All in all it was a beautiful day, and I couldn’t be happier for these two. Love you guys! xoxoxoxo
PS – Let me give a shout out to rose of sharon florist who did these amazing flowers. I love working with them!
Before the Wedding …
How did you two meet? Justin and I met through a mutual friend. A group of us went out one night and he asked me for my number. Being the classy gal that I am I told him “I don’t give my number out to boys.” 😉 Thank goodness he gave me his, and to make sure I didn’t lose it, he wrote it on my arm with a Sharpie! Once I got to know him I fell head over heels and the rest is history!
How did he propose? We were vacationing in Cancun, Mexico when Justin proposed. He booked an excursion for us to swim with dolphins (knowing I’ve always wanted to do it). At the end of the show, a dolphin swam up to me with a toss ring around his nose. Inside the toss ring was the engagement ring. He got down on one knee and proposed! It was definitely worth the wait and we have it all captured on video.
How did you decide on your color scheme, flowers, and cake?
I knew right away that one of the colors had to be pink, my favorite! Because our venue was overlooking the water (natural) and modern I wanted to incorporate that into the color scheme. We chose brown and silver accents.
Justin gave me free rein with the flowers; I chose peonies, dahlias and orchids. The dahlias didn’t end up making it (Spring was just too hot this year) so my second choice was hydrangeas. Our florist ended up dying them and they turned out beautiful.
Cake was one of the highlights in planning the wedding. I showed Chef Nancy at One Ocean a picture of a cake I was inspired by on “The Knot” and we worked together to make it ours. Her cakes are delish!

After the Wedding …
Where did you go for your honeymoon? We went to Ocho Rios Jamaica. It was beautiful and relaxing, just what we needed after all that planning. We stayed at Sandals Grande Riviera.
If you could give yourself any advice prior to the wedding, what would it be?
It seemed that everyone gave me the same two pieces of advise. #1- Savor each moment, I tried this several times but everything just happened so fast. #2- Start getting ready early! I thought we were safe, but it turned out we ran out of time and were behind.
If I could do it all over again I would plan my wedding date around Tonya’s schedule, honestly. She was the glue that held everything together on our day. She went above and beyond her job title. She is not just a photographer, but a second coordinator and a friend.
