Cassie and Colby’s Big day!

Cassie and Colby lucked out with such a beautiful wedding day.  The weather forecast predicted a VERY high chance of rain…which obviously wouldn’t be too fun since their wedding was outside.  But I knew Cassie well enough to know that it wouldn’t effect her mood whatsoever.  Can you believe it never rained a drop?  Love it!  Congrats you two.  I’m so honored to be a part of your special day. xoxo

Their Lovestory:

How did you two meet?  We lived in the same apartment complex in two buildings that faced each other for almost a year, but never met until we found each other online.  Of course, when we got in contact with each other he was deployed in Japan.  We exchanged emails periodically, then began talking everyday a month before he came home.  We have been together everyday since he came home!

How did he propose? My parents came in town to visit me the week of Spring Break.  Colby knew how much it means to me to have my family around, especially for something like getting engaged.  He asked my dad one morning when they were taking my car in and he planned to ask one night out at dinner with my parents, but knew I’d be expecting it and he wanted to surprise me. He kept sharing with me different ways he “thought” about doing it, but decided not to so of course I was getting frustrated or rather impatient waiting for it knowing it was coming…so as I’m getting all worked up and then apologizing one night as we were about to head in and visit friends, he opened the car door and as I stepped out I found him on one knee!  He knew I wouldn’t be expecting it right then and there and he was right – I was surprised and so excited!

How did you decide on your color scheme, flowers, and cake?  I’m a teacher and he’s in the Navy so leave time is harder to come by.  Since we got engaged in April, that summer was too close and the following summer was too far for what we wanted, so we decided on Christmas time.  Since our day was a week before Christmas, we played into the holiday theme/winter formal and picked red and black as our colors and red roses for our main flower.  As for cake, we knew we wanted a three tier square cake and shopped around till we found something that suited the formality and style of our event.

After the Wedding …

Where did you go for your honeymoon?  We are going away for a couple days to the Hilton at Cocoa Beach before Christmas, but we still wanted to celebrate Christmas with our families so we opted out of the typical honeymoon right after the wedding and are planning to do a cruise next summer!

If you could give yourself any advice prior to the wedding, what would it be?  It will all work out some way or another – just relax and enjoy the moments and take it all in!  But, most importantly remember to focus on the beauty of marriage, the lifetime commitment you are making, that is a blessing that no flaw in flowers, cake, dress, etc. can ever take away from!  You are marrying the man of your dreams – this is the best day of your life so far!
