Wedding Weekend Info: (written by
Hotel accommodations for guests: The Omni and Residences Inn
Rehearsal Dinner Location: We got married on Master’s weekend so it was only fitting to do the rehearsal dinner at the Golf Course of Amelia Island with a Master’s Theme! It was perfect.
Ceremony Location & Reception Location: Both Ceremony and Reception were held at the Oyster Bay Yacht club. We had perfect weather and a few extra guests…. Bugs that would just not go away.
Caterer: Oyster Bay Yacht Club handled everything! We had Shrimp and Grits, Meat carving station, potatoes, corn, green beans, and corn bread.
Wedding Coordinator: Terrie Sanders and Becky DeBerry- both were from the OBYC and did an amazing job!
Photographer: Best ever… Tonya Beaver. She did a great job of capturing all the special moments I wanted. So easy to work with and so creative!
Videographer: I didn’t have one, but wishing I did now b/c the day goes by so fast you don’t remember everything!
Cake: Publix and my Aunt surprised me with buying it for us!
Florist: Artistic Florist; So detailed oriented and creative! The backdrop doors at the wedding were exactly what I wanted and loved my pink bouquet of peonies.
Officiate: Personal friend from church we attended in Miami; he did a great job making the ceremony so special and personal
Hair & Make-up: Simply Makeup: Vanessa and Sara Jane did a great job
Entertainment: We had A-List Affair band; although they were hard to communicate with at first they did an amazing job. They had people dancing the whole night and even had me on stage to sing “Shoop”!
Transportation: We used Amelia Island Trolleys to help get all our guests to and from the hotels safely. We served beer and champagne for all the guests and then road back with them home to continue our celebrations!
Wedding Dress: My dress was a gift from my parents, it was from La Raines and made by Paloma Blanca- very simple with a sash made by my mom
Wedding Shoes: Badgley Mischika
Bridesmaids Dresses: I let the girls pick their own… I didn’t want them to match and wanted them to find a dress they felt beautiful in!
Groom and Groomsmen Wear: Tan suits from Jos A. Bank with white shirts and a blue pocket square.
How did you two meet? We actually went to Auburn at the same time; however we didn’t know each other. He says he remembers me though 😉 We met when he came to interview at Aerotek and thought he wasn’t the right fit; however he fought for the job and won the job, but didn’t win my heart till later. We started hanging out in 2009 as friends which later turned into more as we got to know each other better.
How did he propose? He took me to Amelia Island for what I thought was a golf tournament. We checked into the Ritz and after fumbling to open the door to our room I walked in to find yellow roses all over the room, candles, chocolate covered strawberries and Champagne. He got down on one knee and talked about the impact I have made in his life and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. We celebrated with some champagne on the patio when he told me we needed to go downstairs b/c he had one more surprise… he had all our friends come in town to spend the weekend with us. He arranged dinner that night and it was perfect!
How did you decide on your color scheme, flowers, and cake? We decided to have the wedding at the Oyster Bay Yacht club so I immediately knew I wanted to do a nautical theme of blue and white stripe with a pop of pink! The other vendors were decided on through interviewing several before making a decision- when you know you know!
How did you decide on your invitations, and who did you use? My best friend, Courtney, does amazing work so there was not even a second thought that she would do all the invites and branding for the wedding.
Where did you go for your honeymoon? Scrub Island in the British Virgin Island
If you could give yourself any advice prior to the wedding, what would it be? Ask for help and don’t fight with your fiancé regardless of his lack of involvement— it’s all about marrying your best friend!
