Jacksonville Wedding Photography | Amelia Island Wedding Photographer | Ashley + Brett | Amelia Island, FL

Ashley and Brett are so adorable and unique.  They LOVE the outdoors, especially riding horses.  Ashley’s parents live on a horse farm (I guess that’s what you would call it), and they decided to have their reception there.

But it could not have been more beautiful.  Their attention to the little tiny details was like right out of a magazine.

They really had an amazing wedding day…it couldn’t have been more perfect.   Congrats you two!

How did you two meet?

Brett and I met at a Jaguars football game.  My girlfriends and I were headed to get something to drink and we walked past him and one of his friends.  I thought he was so cute, so we decided to turn around and start talking to them.  We ended up hanging out for the rest of the game and the rest of the night.  We have been inseparable ever since!

How did he propose?

Brett took me down to St. Augustine to have dinner.  Before we went home he said he had another surprise for me.  We went downtown and he took me on a carriage ride.  At the end of the ride, he took the ring out of his shoe and asked me to marry him!

How did you decide on your color scheme, flowers, and cake?

The venue was the inspiration for most of the wedding details.  Since it was going to be outdoors, I wanted to keep the flowers white.  I also found several wedding blogs and took ideas from there.  One of my favorites was Southern Weddings Magazine’s blog, which is where I found a picture of the cake that I wanted.

Wedding Details!

Rehearsal Dinner Location:  The Happy Tomato Café in downtown Fernandina Beach.  They have the cutest outside courtyard.  Great atmosphere and great food!

Ceremony Location: First Baptist Church, Fernandina Beach

Reception Location:  In a tent at the Bride’s parents house.

Caterer: Knot-Just-Weddings.  They are a one-stop shop out of Quitman, GA.  They also provided the tent and coordinated the reception.  We received tons of compliments on the food.

Wedding Coordinator: knot-just-weddings.  Lisa and her team were great to work with!

Photographer: Tonya Beaver.  The absolute best!  She has a great eye for details, takes awesome photos, and makes taking formal pictures fun and painless!  Both the guys and girls in the wedding party were comfortable with her.  I would recommend her to anyone.

Videographer: The church has their own system that we used to video the ceremony, and a friend used his personal camera to video parts of the reception.

Cake:  Both cakes were from Edgewood Bakery.  Both of the cakes looked and tasted great!  The groom’s cake was chocolate on chocolate, and there was not one piece left over at the end of the night!

Florist: Rachel Ely from Blossoms and Accents in Middleburg did the arrangements for the reception, the bouquets and boutonnieres.  She did an excellent job and has very reasonable prices.  My grandmother did the arrangements for the ceremony.

Officiant: Reverend Jeffrey Overton

Hair: Cheryl Newton at Changes Salon in Fernandina Beach

Make-up: Tamara at Serenity Salon in Fernandina Beach

Entertainment: 8 Mile Bend band out of Savannah, GA.  We found them on Gig-Masters.com and drove to Savannah to see them play.  They were excellent!  The dance floor stayed full the whole night!
Transportation: Amelia Island Trolleys transported all of the guests to and from the ceremony and reception.  The trolleys also transported our out of town guests from their hotels and back.

Wedding Dress: I bought my dress at the Bridal Shop at the Avenues in Jacksonville.  It is a Watters gown.  I had mixed feelings about my experiences with them depending on who was working.

Bridesmaids Dresses:  I ordered the bridesmaid dresses from the Bridal Shop at the Avenues as well.  They were After Six dresses in Sapphire blue.  My bridesmaids said they had trouble getting in touch with the Bridal Shop to order their dresses because they only have one phone line.  One of the girls called every few minutes for about two hours before she was able to reach anyone!  But, the dresses came in when they were supposed to, and very few of the girls had to have alterations done.

Groom and Groomsmen Wear:  Michaels Formal wear at the Town Center in Jacksonville.  They were very professional and easy to work with.

After the Wedding …

Where did you go for your honeymoon?

We have a trip scheduled to go to Wyoming for a week in May to stay on a ranch and ride horses all week.  But, since we could not go there until May, we decided to go to Vegas for a few days right after the wedding.  We both had never been, and we loved it!

If you could give yourself any advice prior to the wedding, what would it be?

Don’t try and please everyone, it’s not going to happen!
