Becky and Paul Wedding Day
Becky and Paul had such a smooth and perfect wedding day. Perfect light, perfect temperature, amazing friends and family…seriously it was perfect. They love Saint Augustine and chose a venue right on the water which made it so much fun to just zip out there for photos. Sunset on the bay was absolutely gorgeous.
Wedding Weekend Info: (From Becky)
Hotel accommodations for guests: Hilton St. Augustine Historic Bayfront and Best Western Bayfront Inn
Rehearsal Dinner Location: Mojo Old City BBQ in St. Augustine, FL
Ceremony Location: The courtyard at the Hilton St. Augustine Historic Bayfront
Reception Location: Hilton St. Augustine Historic Bayfront
Caterer: Hilton St. Augustine Historic Bayfront
Wedding Coordinator: Tina Klinkenberg.
We met Tina at one of the bridal shows. She works for Hilton and she is the reason we chose to have our wedding at the Hilton Historic Bayfront. I cannot say enough things about Tina. She is a fantastic person!
She was absolutely incredible and so helpful and full of wonderful ideas. She went above and beyond to ensure that our day was special. She made everything perfect!
Photographer: Of course Tonya Beaver Photography!
Tonya and her assistants were awesome. They were there to capture it al, the overall wedding day story. Her and her assistants captured everything from the smallest detail to the overall wedding day picture. They arrived right after we finished getting our hair done and stayed until we rode away.
They kept everything very light and fun. I cannot thank Tonya enough. I couldn’t ask for a better way than how you captured all my wedding day memories! Perfection!
Cake: Publix on State Road 16 in St. Augustine.
Dana was fabulous! She did what other bakeries said they couldn’t do. She was able to take 3 different pictures and create a beautiful cake. It turned out better than I could have imagined. She also was able to make an awesome Lego-style Star Wars groom’s cake. (It was a surprise for Paul and his sons.) The cakes were incredible and delicious!
Florist: Parker’s Events.
Tammy was wonderful! She had great ideas and was super helpful. The flowers were simply gorgeous. And the center pieces turned out perfectly!
Officiate: Pastor Pat McKenzie from Hope Lutheran Church on Baymeadows.
Pastor Pat is great!! He went above and beyond to make everything perfect. He did an excellent job. We were so blessed that he came into our lives!!
Hair: Lindsey Varner.
She is amazing! She has been doing my hair for years now and I will not let anyone else touch my hair. She is incredible! We had a practice run a few days before to try a few things, but she changed it up just a bit that day and made my hair gorgeous (and everyone else’s too)!
She is the best and I think everyone should go to her! Seriously, she’s amazing. I will be more than happy to give you her number!
Make-up: Me (and Lindsey). Lindsey did my eyes after she finished my hair.
Ceremony Music: University of North Florida Trio.
I called the chair of the UNF Music Department and they put me in touch with Dayna. She was wonderful and handled everything. We met several times to go over the music and to calm my nerves. She was incredibly professional and even helped me surprise Paul and the guys with the Star Wars theme song for their entry. As you can tell, Paul and his sons love Star Wars, so it was perfect!
Entertainment: Y? Entertainment.
David Hanscomb was great! He took the time with meet with us a couple times to go over everything and make sure we have a good timeline. He gave us the idea for the “anniversary dance” to celebrate the couple in attendance who was married the longest…it was actually 2 couples, both over 50-years! He had done a friends wedding earlier this year and was just what we were looking for…laid back and not over the top. He made everything run smoothly and kept it fun!
Transportation: Southern Carriages
Wedding Dress: The White Magnolia.
Karrie was fantastic! She was able to find me the perfect dress in no time!
Wedding Dress Alterations: Martha Shump.
I was realistic and ordered the perfect dress in the size I was when I found it. (Smart. You can take it in, but you can’t let it out!) But I ended up losing about 20 pounds before the wedding and Martha made the dress fit perfectly!
Wedding Shoes: Cole Haan.
(I wanted something I could actually wear again!)
Bridesmaids Dresses: Bella Bridesmaids.
Ashley was a pleasure to work with! She not only helped us find beautiful bridesmaid dresses (best bridesmaid dresses ever! But I’m biased), she helped us find the Mother of the Bride’s dress and the flower girl’s dress. She made everything super easy.
Groom and Groomsmen Wear: Michael’s Formalwear
How did you two meet?
We met at the Grotto in San Marco. Fate must have been our side because from there we had dinner and we’ve been together ever since.
How did he propose?
Paul took me to The Tasting Room in St. Augustine. He had arranged a carriage ride, the whole nine yards “to see the Christmas light.” Unfortunately, it was cold and rainy. We climbed into the carriage, with the help of my awesome Auburn University umbrella.
We didn’t get too far when we stopped in front of the Memorial Presbyterian Church and the driver asked if we would like to get out and see the gardens. I had no desire to get out, in the rain, at night, in the cold to go see this thing, but Paul insisted! When we got to what we thought was the end, I blurted out something like “Is this it…” and turned around and Paul was down on one knee and very eloquently proposed.
I started crying and of course said yes! After that, it’s a blur of kisses and tears!!
How did you decide on your color scheme, flowers, and cake?
color scheme:
The color scheme took on a life of its own! I had no clue what colors I wanted, but I knew I wanted the flowers to be the color. (I had so many people tell me that I was doing it the wrong way.)
flowers:
My first and second choices for flowers were not readily available, the lace bridesmaid dresses I wanted were indefinitely on backorder…so, everything just kind of morphed. But once the florist suggested using antique roses, I was sold. The color scheme, flowers, etc. all fell into place.
cake:
For the cake, all Paul and I cared about was that it tasted good.
How did you decide on your invitations, and who did you use?
I wanted something classy and simple. Cissy at “Things Very Special” helped me find the perfect invitation. It was a simple square, ivory card with platinum font. Beautiful and elegant. Cissy was so wonderful and helped me with everything from wording to addressing etiquette!
