As for covid effecting our wedding plans, we had a small family only ceremony planned but due to covid we eloped instead for the health and safety of our family. And then our wedding reception/after party was originally planned for late March which has been postponed until later in 2020.

The initial shock and stress of making the decision to elope and picking a new reception date was stressful as it felt like we were trying to make plans for the future when you never knew what was going to change to next day. We got/are getting through it by laughter.

We constantly remind ourselves that we cannot control the situation so we are going to make whatever decisions we can with no regrets. And always try to laugh it off.

Our friends, family and wedding planner have all been instrumental in checking in on us and making sure we still enjoy our wedding and reception even though it nothing like we imagined. Being stuck at home is weird, to say the least. Joe travels for work all the time, so the fact that we both home for weeks in a row is not our normal. We’re getting used it yet though and we have just accepted that this is life for now.

I’ve been working from home, so that allows us to keep some type of routine and personal space. Our nightly walks with dog and corn hole games have helped us create a new normal and keep our competitive spirits.

Being quarantined as newlyweds is now part of our story, even if it’s not how we would have planned it. Being at home as forced us to take time to slow down. One day we will have an amazing wedding reception and an epic honeymoon. But for now we will continue to honeymoon in the house.
