WHEW! WHAT A YEAR!

2020 is something crazy! Let me update you on what I’m seeing for weddings based on my own interaction with current engaged couples AND what we’re seeing on our wedding professional message boards. It’s no secret that a LOT of weddings for this year had to significantly change.

Once the mandatory stay at home went into play, those weddings were stopped dead in their tracks. Then things opened back up to 50 people or less so those couples had the choice of either trimming their guest list or postponing as well. Oooooof Let me tell you, it’s been HARD on our industry.

The uncertainty of our couples knowing what to do moving forward and how to plan, it’s just caused them SO much stress. From what I saw, initially the stay at home order took place and those weddings postponed immediately without question. Quickly changed dates for the fall and hoped for the best.

Well now even some of THOSE weddings are considering postponing again because our fall is so uncertain. Others decided to trim down their guest list to 50 and move along with planning. I’ve actually shot a few weddings (and have a few more coming up) that were planned out of state as the big hoorah, but since people can’t travel they trimmed the guest list and moved the location to Jacksonville.

So, the answer is, there’s been no answer. Couple and families have been resilient to figure out what’s most important to them. Huge wedding day? Then they’ve postponed. Just want to be officially married? They’ve gone to courthouse and cancelled their big day. It’s been a CRAZY season that literally changes on the daily.

2021

I explain all that to say this, 2021 is going to be REALLY busy. Already my January is the busiest it’s ever been in terms of weddings. All of the overflow from this year’s postponements are already securing their rebooking dates.

And then all the couples engaged this year and holding off planning until things are more certain (my hand goes up here!), they are all going to be fighting over 2021 Saturdays. One of my brides was supposed to marry in early August. They as a couple and family decided to postpone their event until next year so their out of town family and friends could attend.

She said working with her venue coordinator was tough sorting out a new date. And honestly she admitted basically the venue coordinator told her what date she could have. Period. So I’m assuming venues are having an interesting time trying to wiggle in so many couples to next year too.

“We’re all in this together”.

It’s been super stressful for couples planning, and it’s been stressful on the industry as a whole. I can reassure you that Tonya Beaver Photography is completely up and running full force (thank goodness…I went SOOO stir crazy during the mandatory stay at home order!)

But we are practicing all the safety measures personally for ourselves and at the studio to keep it clean and safe. I’m here for you to make sure your dates get rearranged need be. I’m here for you if you just need to talk and vent frustrations. I’m here to reach out to vendors to help planning. I’ve got you! I know it’s cliche we keep hearing “We’re all in this together”.

But we are! We’re all in this uncertain crazy weird time. But I’ve found those dark scary times to be the most enlightening. Especially who is there to reach out for your hand and help navigate your way when there’s so much confusion around. Okay sorry to get woo woo on you. But, I like to find the light in the dark times. (and lawwwwwwwd there have been some dark times these last few months LOL) We’re here for you.

WEDDING PACKAGES!

I recently updated my packages. This was how I had them set up basically for the last 15 years. I tried out some adjustments, but I’ve gone back to this. I come and meet for “getting ready” photos three hours before the ceremony start time, and then we don’t leave until the exit time. So there’s no packages based on “hourly” packages.

The packages basically change based on what you want AFTER the wedding…as in albums? Video slideshow? Parent albums? You name it. We can do it all. OOHHHH and I put the complimentary engagement session back in all the packages.

I love those because I get to go make a connection with my couple! I love spending time with you guys before the wedding, that way we’re ALL way more comfortable on the wedding day. I know grooms hate photos and push back (LOL), but seriously I make it fun and painless. Promise.
