Wedding weekend Info: (written by Jennifer and Paul)
Hotel accommodations for guests: Sawgrass Marriott Resort.
Rehearsal Dinner Location: The Beaches Museum & History Park, catered by the Beaches Diner. Our rehearsal dinner location was really special to us because in 2012 the chapel where Paul’s grandmother got married in 1951, was moved to the property. Before the dinner started, the museum staff opened the chapel for us so we could take a few pictures and hear a few stories about her wedding day.
Ceremony Location: Christ Episcopal Church, Ponte Vedra. Paul and I both grew up going to Christ Church and I even worked in the nursery during high school.
Reception Location: Sawgrass Marriott Resort, Island Green Pavilion. Since I grew up living in the Sawgrass neighborhood and drove past the Sawgrass Marriott nearly every day, it was the last place I thought of when looking for reception venues. My sister insisted that we at least go look and from the moment I met Robin (the wedding coordinator) and toured the property I was sold! Robin was so energetic and it was clear that she loves weddings! I loved the Island Green Pavilion because it was secluded at the back of the property and allowed for a beautiful outside cocktail hour on a lagoon, followed by dinner and dancing inside. The Marriott had also just underwent a “Refresh” so we got the benefit of all the new upgrades!
Wedding Coordinator: Robin Camp, Marriott Wedding Coordinator
Photographer: The one & only Tonya Beaver! I was introduced to Tonya by her former assistant Danielle and I knew from the moment I met her and saw her photos that she was the perfect photographer. Her photos were STUNNING and she had such a sweet personality that I knew she would be the perfect person to spend our wedding day with. Planning a wedding from another city is stressful but Tonya put me at ease. She spent countless hours on the phone with me going over the timeline and shot lists. On our wedding day, Tonya and her second shooter arrived at my house and immediately started capturing every little detail. Even though the golf course behind my house was undergoing renovations, Tonya was able to take the girl’s pre-wedding formals in our back yard. This was really special because it is the same place my bridesmaids and I got ready and took pictures for our high school proms and homecomings! They kept it focused yet fun and reassured me when I was getting anxious that everything timing wise would work out. They even stayed after the reception and took some beautiful nighttime photos of us after the reception. Thank you girls, I couldn’t ask for a better to capture all of our wedding day memories!
Cake: Publix in Ponte Vedra. Cheryl, in the Event Planning team, was dream to work with! Our cake was white cake, with fresh strawberry filling and cream cheese icing.
Florist: Rose of Sharon. Lynette was amazing to work with! Another frustration of planning a wedding during law school from Atlanta was I only had a hand full of weekends I could come home for consultations, meetings, and dress fittings. However, Lynette and I had an amazing Skype consultation where she carried her iPad around her studio to show me different vases and flowers. She immediately saw my vision of classic and neutral flowers with mercury glass accents. She also made suggestions for things I had not thought of like table numbers! Lynette even offered to meet with me in Atlanta, since she was already planning on being her for Market. Talk about above and beyond! Lynette and her team also decorated a beautiful tree at the entrance of our cocktail hour. They wrapped it with lights and hung giant floral balls from the branches. It was stunning and our guests are still talking about it!
Officiate: Joan Bryan, retired priest from Christ Episcopal Church. Joan is a longtime friend of Paul’s family and I used to work with her daughter Lisa in the church nursery.
Hair: Casey Powell, Casey Does Hair. After a few nightmare hair trials, Casey was a godsend! Her sweet personality and her amazing talent for hair are a winning combination. She knew instantly how to combine the style I wanted, with the style that my mom wanted for me, into the perfectly classic up-do. I knew it was perfect when my mom broke into tears as soon as Casey finished! Casey also did the hair of my bridesmaids. I asked them all to have their hair “back” but the specific style was up to them. Casey managed to create 8 unique and beautiful looks for my girls and finished ahead of schedule! I got compliments all night about our hair, something I thought very few people even noticed!
Make-up: Jill Stonier. Jill is amazing! On a normal day I don’t wear much make-up so for our wedding I just wanted a polished but natural look – nothing too dramatic! I wasn’t able to fit a make-up trial in before the wedding day so I was a little nervous but Jill reassured me that everything was going to be alright and absolutely delivered! I was so happy with my make-up and it stayed on perfectly well into the after party!
On a side note, with 8 bridesmaids and my mom all getting hair and make-up, Jill and Casey had to arrive at 7am and started on their first girls at 7:30am! They fit right in with all of my friends and we had the most fun and relaxed morning getting ready. I think it is really important to choose vendors that do amazing work – but for hair, make-up, and photography, it is also really important to pick vendors that you really get along with because you will be spending A LOT of time with them on the most special day of your life!
Entertainment: A-List Affair. They were a great band and kept our guests dancing all night long. There were a few snafus during the night but none of our guests noticed a thing!
Transportation: East Coast Transportation. We chartered a Beaches Trolley for transportation for our large wedding party and it was so much fun and made for some cute pictures! We didn’t charter any transportation for our guests since many of them were staying at the reception venue.
Wedding Dress: White Magnolia. The ladies of White Magnolia were a dream to work with! I always thought I wanted a big tulle ball gown, but while trying on dresses someone talked me into trying on a fitted lace dress and I loved it! I had no idea what to do! The White Magnolia girls had me try on my dress, a hit of the ball gown skirt that I wanted but also fitted. It was perfect!
Wedding Shoes: Sam Eddleman, GiGi sandals in silver crocodile. I rarely wear heals and knew I wanted to be comfortable as I danced the night away!
Bridesmaids Dresses: Bella Bridesmaids. I knew I wanted long, champagne bridesmaids dressed but couldn’t decide on a style. I ended up picking four different styles from the same designer and let each girl choose their favorite dress!
Groom and Groomsmen Wear: Men’s Warehouse – Vera Wang Black tuxes.
Where did you go for your honeymoon? We stayed in Ponte Vedra at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club for a two-day beachfront, mini-moon before returning to Atlanta so I could finish out my last semester of law school. I take the Bar Exam at the end of the summer and after that we’re headed down to Nevis in the British Virgin Islands for our real honeymoon!
If you could give yourself any advice prior to the wedding, what would it be? Relax and trust your vendors!
