Liz is in PR so planning this wedding was probably like second nature to her. She had everything perfectly planned out and coordinated, and that takes some skill! Watching everything come together so perfectly was pretty amazing. She had a beautiful vision, and everything came together so perfectly.
Upon meeting Liz and Joe, I knew right away I wanted to work with them. They were both so sweet and FUN. Fast forward to our last meeting prior to the wedding day, and they told me about how crazy the party might become. I do believe the words “shit show” were used alongside of their insta hashtag of “ship show”. Anyway, I was pretty excited to see what all we had in store for the day. The wedding day finally arrived, and I had an amazing second shooter, Preston, lined up. He’s a friend I met on my summer travels, top of the market wedding photographer in Minneapolis where he lives. I had flown out to shoot with him a few weeks ago, and Liz and Joe were getting his expertise for their wedding. We arrived at the Ribault Club SO excited to hop right in. Weather was gorgeous, venue is of course perfect. We were stoked!
I walked in to the bridal suite to meet the girls getting ready. One of the most fun parts of a wedding day is getting to meet and spend time with bridesmaids. They are always so fun, SO sweet to us. And Liz’s girls were just that. Liz was having her hair and makeup finished up so we grabbed detail shots of the beautiful decor and popped in to meet the guys. Oh the guys. There was plenty of fireball, football, food…they were having a blast.
The ceremony was finally starting. Several things stood out that I’ll always remember. First of all, Joe did a little twirl and dance down the aisle. SO FUN. Also when Liz made it down the aisle, all the groomsmen cheered for her which I thought was super cute. They just had a really sweet and fun ceremony. Lots of laughs (especially when Joe kept forgetting what to repeat back to the officiant!), tons of love, and of course the beautiful light and oak tree as the perfect setting.
After the ceremony we moved really quickly into formal photos. We had THE most gorgeous light at the perfect spot for their formals. Mid way through formals, there was a huge surprise from Joe to Liz. I’ll let that be a secret on the slideshow, but I LOVE the look on Liz’s face in pure shock. Also, wait to go Joe. VERY rarely do I see a groom plan a surprise for his bride on a wedding day.
Finally it was time to PARTY! I don’t remember one time during the night where the dance floor wasn’t packed. Everyone was having such an incredibly fun time. So much dancing, singing, and CELEBRATING. Liz and Joe shared a private last dance, okay TWO dances because it was just perfect and none of us wanted the night to end. But their guests were waiting out front with glow sticks and their send off. So off they went!
In summary, Liz and Joe had the most amazing wedding day surrounded by friends and family who love them so much. It was beautiful getting to watch their day unfold. Their love story is so sweet. I’m so honored to have been a part of the journey with them, and I can’t wait to see their love continue throughout their lives together.
