If you follow my Facebook fan page, it’s easy to know that I absolutely adore this couple.  The first contact I had from them was an email last year that explained that they were finding love for the second time in life and looking to get married.  I immediately fell in love with their story. 

They met in a singles group at their church and John Boy swept her off her feet.  John is literally one of the most tender souls that I have ever known.  As you can see from their wedding day, he has know problem letting his emotions show…especially when it comes to his bride and family. 

And Sandra, oh Sandra.  I remember watching her dancing in the reception, all her bridesmaids surrounding her.  I thought to myself, “Anyone who is a friend of hers…is a lucky person”.  I love her to pieces.

Sandra and John, you have something special…and what I love about you two is you actually know it and live it out.  I know you will live a lifetime of happiness together.  I love you guys.

Oh my goodness, talk about tears!  Her girls laid hands on her to pray before we left her room to head to the wedding.  Such a sweet moment.

I love a man that can wear pink!

The wind and cold was so unpredictable this day.  The white room moved all the chairs in and out several times because it was so touch and go.  They were rock stars!

This little one RAN down the aisle to get down to her grandpa!

Not a dry eye in the place.  Thanks to my amazing second shooter for catching John Boy having to put his face down for a moment.  One of my fav shots from the day.

Homemade baked cookies for favors.  YUM!

Below is the groom’s cake.  YES, it’s a cake.  There were finger marks all throughout the icing where people were having to touch and see what it was.

Advice to future brides: rest up….

sleep late the day of if possible, we were exhausted!

Our Story John and I are both members at Christ’s Church where we have been active in the Singles United (SU) Group. During Sunday Morning Class, he always sat in the front of the room, I sat towards the back. We were aware of each other, but never talked. At a SU Christmas party last year, John said he “noticed” me as we were doing the White Elephant gift exchange.

I was talking with my girlfriends, and not really paying much attention. He was not excited about the gift he received, someone offered to change with him. I could not imagine why anyone would not be happy with something orange and blue….then he told me he was a Georgia fan. I wrinkled my nose and muttered something under my breath.

OK, so it was just one sentence, it was talking just the same. Georgia-boy was how I began to think of him, and he immediately began to call me Gator-girl. At the next SU potluck, the sweetest conversation took place about, what else…. our boys. After that, eye contact between us became a little more significant during Sunday Morning Class. And then it became more prolonged.

We began to hang out together at SU functions, started sitting by each other at church, talking on the phone, and yep, DATING! There is a strong sentiment that love happens when you least expect it. We would both tell you that was certainly the case with us. Neither of us was looking for a relationship, much less a mate. Besides, both of us had been there and done that already.

We just enjoyed talking and laughing together, right? I mean honestly, a Georgia Bulldog and a Florida Gator? And the most amazing thing happened: we discovered, to our complete and utter surprise, right in the middle of our ordinary lives……we had fallen head over heels in love. We know God’s plan is so much better for us than our own….if and when we seek His will.

We thank Him for this second chance, and for allowing us to discover for ourselves that…….. It is never too late to live happily ever after.
