Sarah + Michael Wedding Day

Sarah and Michael had a dream wedding in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. I met with Sarah a few times before her wedding and as the day got closer and closer I could just see her excitement. Sarah was stunning in her dress with the longest train I have photographed.

The photo of her on the stairs just captures the feeling of the day! Their ceremony was very traditional and romantic. It was so important to them to share the covenant of marriage with their family and friends.

I loved it. Everyone let loose at the reception and there was a lot of dancing and plenty of laughs! Congratulations to Sarah and Michael — you two are such special people and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you two!

Before the Wedding …

How did you two meet?

Michael and I met at our current employer, Deutsche Bank, at the fax machine! We had both just graduated from college and were fortunate enough to land a position working in the exciting world of investment banking. One day I had to fax some documents to a client and his desk was positioned next to the fax machine.

We started making small talk and come to find out both of our family members also worked for the same company, which was a very small world!  After that discussion, we continued chatting and weeks later had our first dinner date at Wasabi restaurant. From that night on, we have been inseparable, and you know what they say, the rest is history…

How did he propose?

We had plans to go to St.Simon’s Island, Ga. for the weekend with our good friends Rosie & Joe Johnson, explore the island, and relax.  When we arrived at the hotel, we were a little early to check into our room, so in the meantime, we decided to go for a walk down by the water to see the beautiful lighthouse and take some pictures.

As we were walking down, I had no idea what was in store as I was chatting with Rosie about the drive up to the island and how beautiful the scenery was.  Joe had just bought a new camera and was adjusting the lens to get the right lighting and camera specifics for picture taking that day. While standing by the water, I asked Joe to take a picture of me and Rosie.

After he did, Rosie then suggested that Joe take a picture of Michael and me in front of the lighthouse. Of course, I had agreed that was a good idea and we made our way to the front of the lighthouse for the picture.  After a couple pictures, Michael whispered into my ear “It was a surprise that I brought you here for our 3-year anniversary, and this trip back I have another surprise for you”.

At that moment, Michael motioned to Joe for the ring, and he got down on one knee and proposed. I could not believe what was happening and was so overjoyed with excitement and screamed out “Yes!!!”.

How did you decide on your color scheme, flowers, and cake?

color scheme:

I always envisioned a fall wedding, and knew right off the bat our color scheme would be rich fall colors that included, gold, crème, bronze, chartreuse green, and burnt orange. I was the bride that had been planning her wedding since I was 5, so I knew exactly the kind of centerpieces and décor I wanted to create for our wedding.

flowers:

Working with Lynette at Rose of Sharon was magical, and with her experience and attention to detail she helped me create our amazing centerpieces that looked SO gorgeous and fabulous!

cake:

For the cake, same idea, I wanted to incorporate the fall décor; however we went with a lighter rendition of the centerpieces for color, and had a 5-tier crème & gold cake with cannoli crème filling. The cake tasting was so much fun, and working with classic cakes to design our wedding cake was wonderful!

How did you decide on your invitations, and who did you use?

I had an idea of the kind of invitation I wanted to pick out, as the invitation sets the precedence of the wedding. It’s the first impression your guests will make, and sets the tone for the event. I wanted something very unique and royal.

We went to Cadeau in Sawgrass Village, and worked with the owners to help create our invitation. We were so pleased with their service and attention to detail.  They have an amazing selection and would highly recommend Cadeau invitations for any event

After the Wedding …

Where did you go for your honeymoon?

Hawaii…we went island hopping in Hawaii starting out in Lanai, then going to Maui, and final stop was on the big island in Kona. The Four Seasons resorts on each island were spectacular and we enjoyed various activities such as golfing, paddle-boarding, and zip-lining through the waterfalls!

If you could give yourself any advice prior to the wedding, what would it be?

To not stress out over the little things, and to just enjoy every minute of the day!  The day goes by SO fast and to cherish the memories!
