SHARON + LOU WEDDING DAY
Sharon was just the biggest sweetie from start to finish of when we first met over email up until the end of her wedding day. I couldn’t wait to finally meet Lou! These two are from New Jersey and they with their friends and family came to Ponte Vedra for their destination wedding.
This was one of those REALLY hot and steamy summer days…the kind that made you feel like your makeup was melting off the second you stepped out of the door. We tried as much as possible to keep them in the cool, run out for photos, and zip right back in. The ceremony time came, and I remember seeing dark clouds starting to roll in. Thunder could be heard in the distance. Our afternoon Florida storm was about to roll through.
It held off though until one of the sweetest ceremonies I had ever seen took place. Sharon walked down the aisle to meet her groom. Lou was handed the mic to say his vows, and no matter what, the words weren’t coming out without tears. As you can see, Lou is a big tough guy. It was just so sweet to see him unable to carry on without breaking down.
The Ceremony
The ceremony ended and within about 5 minutes the rain started. We all ran in for a cocktail hour with the plans to pop back out as soon as the storm passed. Finally we were about to do some family photos outdoors (with thunder still rolling near us!), and then we quickly headed back inside for the reception. What a FUN night! The dance floor was always busy and their guests and family had a great time right up until the sparkler exit.
Ponte Vedra Lodge and Club was the perfect venue as always.
The rooms are beautiful for getting ready photos. The lawn is SO gorgeous for the ceremony with the ocean as the backdrop. I really love what Sharon chose for her flowers. Typically in our heat, the flowers are drooping within just a few minutes outside. But they remained looking gorgeous the whole day and night.
(Great job Blossom and Accents!)
John Powers was great to work alongside with as always as he was doing video.
Jeffrey with D’Land entertainment was an awesome DJ as always. Pretty sure I remember him leading the whip and nae nae at some point through the night? haha
Seriously all the vendors were really great to work with, and everything came together so smoothly
(awesome job planning, Sharon!)
Thank you Sharon and Lou for allowing us to be a part of your special day. It was such an honor! And as always thank you Brent, my second shooter, for some really great shots and moves on the dance floor!
How did you two meet?
A mutual friend lou works with introduced us
How did he propose?
He brought me out to dinner and then “took a stroll down memory lane” and drove past our house we just moved out of (this is the house we first met in). He pulled up front and got out and got down on his knee and said this is where it all started, will you marry me
How did you decide on your color scheme, flowers, and cake?
I wanted simple and chic…nothing too vibrant. Did a lot of looking around on pinterest until I found what was just right 🙂
How did you decide on your invitations, and who did you use?
I didn’t want to spend a lot on invitations. I ended up finding an invitation kit at Michael’s on CLEARANCE!!! Great find! Looked very simple, but beachy…it was perfect!
What was the most fun part of wedding planning?
I am a very organized person, so as boring as it sounds, keeping everything organized in a spreadsheet was fun for me. Tracking everything and best of all seeing when everything was paid off =) I also love crafting, so anything I was able to get involved with making was fun for me…especially the program fans!
Which part did you not like as much?
Being so far away from my Mom and sister when doing girl stuff (dress shopping, etc.)
Wedding Weekend Info:
Hotel accommodations for guests: The Marriott Sawgrass – loved it here….resort is beautiful!! My guests loved the “living room” that had 24 hours snacks and drinks that were included in the hotel rate.
Rehearsal Dinner Location: Pusser’s – food was great, however I would have ordered more appetizers. I had asked my contact if it was going to be enough for my group size and he assured me it was more than enough…def needed more! We ended up ordering a few more after the first round finished and they came 20 min later, no biggie! Would def go back!
Ceremony Location: The Lodge and Club-ocean lawn- BEAUTIFUL!!!!
Reception Location: The Lodge and Club – rooms and location are out of this world. My wedding planner/maitre’d Kimberly was the best there is. She helped me plan my whole wedding and was so on point!
Caterer: The Lodge and Club – food was phenomenal!!!!!
Wedding Coordinator: n/a
Photographer: Tonya Beaver Photography – so laid back, but yet you can tell she loves what she does and puts her all into it. Tonya, the second photographer and the videographer were bouncing lighting ideas off each other throughout the night which I thought was great. They all worked great together and I barely even knew they were there. I was so impressed with the sneak peek pic I got…can’t wait to see the rest!!
Videographer: visual power cinemas….again, very laid back didn’t even know he was there. Very professional and personable. Can’t wait to see the video
Cake: The Lodge and Club
Florist: blossoms and accents. OMG I was blown away with Rachel!! She was very cool calm and collected, which helped me on such a crazy day….but when those flowers got brought into my room where I was getting ready I was more than impressed…I couldn’t have even imagined they would look as beautiful as they did. And the reception was just as beautiful!!
Officiate: Michele Donovan -sensational ceremonies – within the first few minutes of talking with Michele I knew she was the one. She was so easy to talk to and made it so very easy to customize our ceremony.
Hair: eyedo makeup and hair – Kristine and Mackenzie were on point. They both made all of us look so natural and beautiful. Everyone was impressed and loved how their hair and makeup turned out! So many compliments on it.
Make-up:eyedo makeup and hair – see above
Entertainment: D’Land Entertainment – our dj was Jeffrey, very nice and personable. We had a very small wedding and not many dancers but he sure did try his hardest to get people up and dancing. Wish he would have checked that my husband and dad were in the room for the father daughter and mother son dances before he announced them and started the songs, but he redeemed himself 🙂

After the Wedding:
What was the high point of your wedding day that you hope to remember forever?
The ceremony far! As much as I hate being the center of attention, it was almost as if it were just me and my Dad walking down the aisle alone toward my husband…best feeling ever!
If you could give yourself any advice prior to the wedding, what would it be?
I am very organized and like to plan things out ahead if time, but all timelines were out the window the day of the wedding…I would better prepare myself to go with the flow.
Where did you go for your honeymoon?
Excellence, Playa Mujeres, Mexico
