Before the Wedding …
How did you two meet?
Her Story
One of my girlfriends from college came into town so a group of us went to Blackfinn to have dinner and drinks and catch up. Cletus was the first thing I noticed when I walked into the room and as I was walking past him to the patio he smiled and I smiled back. The patio was full and we couldn’t get a table so we decided to go to another restaurant.
On my way out I made sure to walk past him again and this time he stopped me. He told me to guess where he was from and he would buy me drink. I correctly guessed that he was African and I asked him a couple of questions to gauge if he was worth getting my number. Let’s just say he wasn’t exactly forth coming with his answers and just as I was about to walk away he offered me his seat.
At this point my girlfriends were hurrying me out of the saloon so we quickly exchanged numbers and he insisted on walking me outside to my car. He asked me if he could take me to dinner the next day and I agreed. The following night he took me to dinner and then he took me to a party at his coworker’s house.
For the next week he made sure that he saw my face every day sometimes twice a day. He would come and visit me at work for lunch and take me to dinner. After a week of wining and dining me he simply said I am for you and you are for me and we began a whirlwind romance. From our first encounter I knew I had finally met my match.
His Story
“ … And think not that you can direct the course of the love, for love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course”- Khalil Gibran’s the prophet.
Finding Tosha has been the best thing that has ever happened to me. Every day, I bless the day that God allowed our paths to cross. That day remains special to me and I will like to the share the story with the world;
It was a beautiful evening after work. My friends; Corey Hobbs and Richard Lee insisted I joint them for a beer. I decided to go out despite being very tired. As we sat on the bar at Blackfinn drinking and having good guys talk (don’t ask), Corey alerted me to a group of girls walking through the door.
As I turned around, I swear I must have seen an Angel. There was this girl with her face being the dictionary definition of beautiful. There was a radiance coming from her face like sun rays. Her smile could melt even the devil’s heart. Her walk was so majestic it seems like she was floating. I could feel my heart racing, my smile was the broadest I had had in months. The closer she came, the faster was my heartbeat.
As she walked past I said “hey”. She turned around and said smiled
AT ME.
I am not sure whether she said something or not but it didn’t matter. Her smile and beauty has already held me captive. She kept walking. I planned to give her a few minutes to settle down while I rehearsed my “lines”.
As I took a sip of beer, I saw her walking towards me smiling. I felt confident that she also likes me and was coming to talk to me. Not quite; they were leaving. I just happened to be sitting close to the exit. Anyways, I was able to talk to her and get number.(Details intentional omitted).
As Dr. Seuss puts it: “…you know you are in love when you don’t want to fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams…” That was my night. My creed is Love and Tosha is its only tenet.
How did he propose?
Just a couple days shy of our 8 month anniversary Cletus’ oldest sister and her family came to Jacksonville to meet my family. That night we invited his family and my family out to Maggiano’s for dinner. I could tell that Cletus was very nervous as we got dressed for dinner and after we arrived at the restaurant and I kept on asking him was he ok. We arrived last and Cletus pulled my dad off to the side for a conversation.
When they returned to the table my dad started off by welcoming Cletus’ family and saying what a great guy that Cletus is. Cletus then took the floor and talked about how much he appreciated his sister and brother and law and I was thinking they were going through formalities so I kind of tuned out.
Cletus started nervously gripping my hand and then he switched into how much he loves me and how happy he is to have me in his life and he called my daughter to his side. He got down on one knee as he continued to profess his love and asked would I do him the honor of marrying him and I said YES!!!!
How did you decide on your color scheme, flowers, and cake?
Color Scheme:
I love pink and ever since I was a little girl I knew that my wedding colors would be pink and gold. It was a no brainer for me!
Flowers:
I knew I wanted blush pink flowers and I wanted all of my floral arrangements to be gaudy and unique. I described my vision to my wedding planner Adair at Dairing Events and she translated it into a proposal which Dan from Unforgettable Events executed. The flowers at our wedding were beyond amazing.
Cake:
As for the cake for the white wedding we went with a four tier ivory cake with different gold designs on each tier and fresh pink flowers in between made by Classic Cakes. When we sat down to design the cake I had three different cake pictures that I loved and Adair at Dairing Events helped me to pull elements from each picture and design a cake that was unique for our wedding.
How did you decide on your invitations, and who did you use?
I wanted our Monogram to be on all of the paper goods for our wedding. Adair introduced me to Heather at Heather O’Brien Designs and I described to her what I wanted and she took it from there. She designed our monogram and invitations that set the stage for our gorgeous wedding. They were perfection.
