In your words, can you give a storyline of your wedding day?
I woke up at the Club Continental and made my way over to our beautiful venue, The Winterbourne Inn. My girls met me there and my bridesmaid opened their bridesmaids gifts. My matron of honor, my bridesmaid, my mother and my partner’s mother all listened to music, drank mimosas and laughed as we got our hair and makeup done.
Initially I thought an 8 am start time would be rough and the day would be a long one but it flew by because we were having so much fun. Our wonderful photographer Tonya arrived at 2 pm and got beautiful photos of us getting ready and then me getting into my wedding dress. My husband Sean and I had our first look around 3 pm. That moment was so special and getting that moment before the ceremony to see each other and recite our personal vows to each other amongst the natural beauty of the venue is a memory I’ll cherish forever.
After our first look we took some photos of the bridal party and family portraits with the family that was on site already. It was amazing that we had the extra time before the ceremony because the rain came in after the ceremony, cutting down on our photo time. The guests began to arrive around 430 and our DJ started to play beautiful music for the guests to be seated to.
At 5 pm the bridal party and my handsome husband made their way down the aisle to Concerning Hobbits by Taylor Davis. My mother then walked me down the aisle to Cant Help Falling In Love performed by Taylor Davis. We exchanged our vows in front of the beautiful St Johns River with the Winterbourne Inn in front of us with its southern charm and beauty.
After we said our I dos and kissed we walked out of the ceremony to “ Feeling This” By Vitamin String Quartet originally by Blink 182. We took a group shot on the lawn and then my Husband and I were whisked away to a magical garden for romantic photos. The rain came in and cut into our picture time but we were able to mingle and enjoy our cocktail hour. Our DJ Joey did wedding party introductions when we came into the reception.
Followed by Sean and Is first dance to Come What May by Moulin Rouge. Halfway through our first dance we invited everyone to join us on the dance floor for couple dances. Sean did a first dance with his mother to a Bon Jovi song and I with my mother to Landslide by Fleetwood Mac. The rest of the night was a beautiful chorus of dancing, laughter, drinks, speeches, and then a last dance to By Starlight by Smashing Pumpkins.
What was the high point of your wedding day that you hope to remember forever? I hope to remember for forever, holding my soulmate’s hands while we recite our vows to each other on a beautiful earth day surrounded by loving energy.
Love Story:
How did you two meet?
Sean and I met at the hospital we worked at as registered nurses. Sean was an intensive care unit nurse and I started on a cardiac unit. My friend worked alongside Sean and would always tell me about this guy she worked with that she thinks would be perfect for me. I brushed this off until I ran into the intensive care unit nurse practitioner during a rapid response event.
After the patient was stabilized, the nurse practitioner went back to the intensive care unit and mentioned to Sean this “ cute little blonde” that she saw during the rapid response. After this, coworkers of ours kept bringing us up to each other until I decided to message Sean on Facebook. Once Sean found out that I played video games his interest was piqued.
We met for our first date after our night shift at a local breakfast joint, Another Broken Egg Cafe. We immediately hit it off and ended the date by leaning on a car I thought was mine but actually was not to Seans amusement. ( Post night shift exhaustion). After that date we were inseparable. The rest is history.
How did he propose?
Sean first told me he loved me at midnight on new years. He decided to propose to me in similar fashion at a new years eve party we held at our home. He got down on one knee once the clock struck midnight and asked me to marry him.
Wedding planning:
How did you decide on your color scheme, flowers, and cake?
color scheme:
The color scheme took a long indecisive period of time browsing pinterest and wedding blogs. Our wedding was on earth day so I knew I wanted to incorporate sage green. Once I saw some beautiful wedding blogs with sage green and blush together I was sold on the color combination. Sean picked out his suite color which was navy blue and then we decided on a lighter blue for his groomsmen. My bridesmaids wore sage green dresses from Birdy Grey and the groomsmen wore sage green ties to match. The flower girls wore blush dresses, and the ring bearer wore a suite that matched the groomsmen with a blush bow tie to match the flower girls.
flowers:
Our florist Tammy was so helpful in making the floral arrangement decisions and once I told her my vision for sage green and blush she went to work with suggestions and showed pictures for examples. She also provided lanterns for the isle decor and reused alot of our flowers from the ceremony for the reception floral decor.
cake:
Our cake baker Katie with Kakes by Katie had a portfolio full of cakes that she had made in the past to help us narrow down our decision. I could not have asked for a more beautiful wedding cake and the cake flowers provided by our florist really complimented the cake’s elegance.
How did you decide on your invitations, and who did you use?
We used the Knots planning tools to help plan our wedding so it seemed like the natural choice to use their invitations. They had a beautiful selection of invitations and we went with one that seemed to remind us of the old southern beauty and charm of our venue.
What was the most fun part of wedding planning?
The cake tasting was probably the most fun because we are both foodies followed by picking out our wedding music for the ceremony and reception. It was a fun date night activity to listen to music together and dream of our wedding day together.
Which part did you not like as much?
I did not enjoy addressing the invitation envelopes as my hand suffered dearly.
What are the biggest pieces of advice you wish you would have known before the wedding day.
My matron of honor told me that the day would fly by in the blink of an eye and she was right. If there’s any advice I wish I would have known prior to my wedding day would be to not let the stress of wedding planning take away from the joy of the engagement. I also beg you to remember that what truly matters is that you and the love of your life are getting married surrounded by your loved
