Melanie + Michael Wedding Day

Melanie and Michael had an amazing wedding day.  They are members at Timuquana Club so it was only fitting to hold their special day there.  I showed up to meet the girls as they were getting ready.  They were enjoying their time getting hair and makeup done with mimosas and doughnuts.  =)

We left them to finish up getting ready while we photographed their gorgeous details.  Once the girls were ready, we went out front to a shady back road that I love to shoot at.  The light filtered through the trees so pretty.  My second shooter, Devon, handled all the boys’ pre wedding pictures so I could stay with the girls.  It’s no surprise they ended  their photo session in the bar! haha

Ceremony started, and Melanie had a glorious entrance down the staircase on the back lawn.  Michael is a tough guy so it’s always fun to watch as they see their bride coming towards them.  Melanie definitely teared up several times in her vows. =)

After photos we headed inside for a really FUN reception.  Boogie Freaks had the party going the WHOLE time!  The downside to a wedding day is how dang quickly it goes by.  Luckily everyone pulled together to extend the day so there could be some extra party time.  It was totally worth it seeing them enjoy just a little more time with their friends and family.

Melanie and Michael, you’ve been a blast to get to know.  I’ve enjoyed all the stories and fun times we’ve shared doing all the photos.  You’re not just my clients…you’re my friends.  It was an honor to be with you on your special day, and I look forward to watching your love and little family grow.

xoxo

Reception Location: Ballroom at Timuquana Country Club

Caterer: Chef Lamar at Timuquana Country Club

Photographer: Tonya Beaver Photography

The absolutely, most talented photographer, Tonya Beaver. From the moment I met Tonya I knew we were going to get along. From our engagement shoot to my boudoir session, to my wedding and reception, we have seen her talent shine. Tonya researched my Pinterest wedding page prior to my big day and made sure we got the shots I had “pinned” for my bid day.

Tonya and her assistant were there to capture every moment from me getting ready, to the moment we stepped in the car to leave. Tonya even sensed my frustration with my reception coming to an end and worked with my vendors to extend it an extra hour so that I could enjoy more time with friends and family. Her assistant, Danielle, is amazing to work with and very prompt to responding to emails. Tonya and staff, thank you from the bottom of my heart for being by our side on our wedding day!!

Cake: Edgewood Bakery

Always our go-to Bakery. It’s locally owned and their cakes are amazing! Service is impeccable.

Brent Tuten is absolutely AMAZING at what he does. He knew exactly what I wanted and made it more beautiful than I had imagined. The center pieces were stunning!

Officiate: Kevin Loftus

He is a personal friend Michael and I. Amazing ceremony and he was very patient and cooperative when we gave him the ceremony wording 2 days before the wedding. He took his part in our wedding in stride and put his own personal twist on it. It was perfect!

Hair: Kasey Sisung Blake, Blonde Glam Hair

Kasey does my hair on a regular basis and I absolutely adore her. I always leave her salon feeling beautiful and she did the same on my wedding day! My hair was exactly what I wanted!

Make-up: Makeup by Paulina Perez, Lia Croke.

Lia is absolutely, the sweetest person ever. She is extremely talented and made my bridesmaids and I absolutely gorgeous for the big day!

Entertainment: The Boogie Freaks.

We had always gone to see them at local bars and I always said when we got married they would play at my reception. When we got engaged, I immediately made the call and booked them first! Keith is extremely easy to deal with and our guests were super excited to dance the night away with this super fun, local band.

Before the Wedding …

How did you two meet?

Almost 6 years ago we met through mutual friends at a Suns Baseball game. We met again at a Jaguar game a week later, he asked me on a date and we’ve been together and best friends ever since.

How did he propose?

He was away on business in New York. He asked me to fly up and meet him for the weekend. He persuaded me, against my will, to the engagement ring floor at Tiffany’s. I was irritated at having to look at rings again, not thinking I would be getting one. My ring was set up in a jewelry case with other jewelry.

After looking for a few minutes, he asked me what I thought about the most gorgeous ring I had set my eyes on? My response was “it’s really nice”, as I looked over to see him on one knee. It all happened so fast I thought it was a joke, until I saw all the sales women in Tiffany’s gathered over with tears in their eyes, saying well?? I had gotten so caught off guard I immediately started balling and said yes. It was absolutely perfect!

How did you decide on your color scheme, flowers, and cake?

Color scheme:

I went through multiple color schemes, coral and Tiffany blue, navy blue and green, I finally settled on my favorite color combination of pink and green.

Flowers:

When meeting with my florist I explained I wanted my wedding and reception to me, with tones of preppy romance, lilly pulitzer. I love lilly’s, peonies and hydrangeas and my florist seemed to know exactly the direction I was going.

Cake:

Our cake was a combination of four different cakes I had fallen in love with on Pinterest. We we went with traditional white wedding cake with buttercream frosting. YUM!

How did you decide on your invitations, and who did you use?

I knew I wanted invitations that stood out. I wanted people to receive them and get as excited about the wedding as we were to be having it. I used Shine Wedding Invitations. I found them on Etsy and immediately fell in love with them. Their customer service is impeccable and their production time is very fast.

They are also very budget friendly. We went with a rectangular, monogrammed invite stacked with accommodation/wedding website cards, wedding info cards and response cards. They were held together with a monogrammed wrap, all of course in pink in green. Their invites are printed on a white pearlized cardstock that makes them absolutely gorgeous.

After the Wedding …

Where did you go for your honeymoon?

We spent the first two nights at the Ritz Carlton, Amelia Island to wind down. Next stop, Sandals La Toc, St Lucia. It was absolutely gorgeous and the weather was perfect. Just a short 3 hour flight from Miami International.

If you could give yourself any advice prior to the wedding, what would it be?

To elope! Ha Ha, just kidding! For all the stress and frustration, it will all be amazing on your day. Don’t get so wrapped up in the wedding planning that you forget what is most important, you and your future husband. The day will come and go, but your relationship you will have forever…..along with GORGEOUS pictures taken by the one and only, Tonya Beaver!!!
